About

I’ve always had a talent for art and illustration, and so I decided to apply my skills by studying Art, Design and Communication Technology at RMIT. Since graduating in 2002 I have worked in numerous agencies and studios across Melbourne as an art director for many of Australia’s biggest brands.

Over the years these brands have included; Lavazza, Saeco, Dilmah, Serina, Lagina, Nuttelex, Parks Victoria, The Food and Wine Show, Nova, Farm Pride, Ansell, Carsales.com.au, Miele, Cadburry, B&O, Porsche, The Natural Confectionery Company, Robot Building Supplies, Face of Australia and Dulux. And while employed at Green Scribble I worked with The National Trust, YSAS, YoDAA, FebFast, City West Water, EPA Victoria, DELWP, TWUSUPER, Cbus, Kinetic Super, City of Port Phillip and many more.

In 2015 I decided to start my own freelance company, the shift allowing me more creative freedom and a more diverse client base.

I draw inspiration from far and wide, having traveled to over 30 countries and being actively involved in international creative networks. I use my varied experiences to create intelligent design, specialising in beautiful illustration and branding.

I respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I work and live, the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation and pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Sophie is that rare and unique mix of talent in design – she delivers beautiful creative designs, with flair, while balancing this, as required, with the commercial realities of budget and brand. In more than five years of working with Sophie she has delivered fantastic concepts and creative work that has proved to be contemporary and timeless. Importantly Sophie’s designs are relevant to the client and audience and her brands are practically developed and implemented.

Sophie is also a pleasure to work with as she takes a positive and proactive approach to projects and design.

Sophie was employed by The Ross Partnership as a senior art director, graphic designer and mac operator and I worked closely with her on a number of major advertising and marketing projects.

Sophie combines originality, creativity and professionalism in a way that is unusual in someone as clearly talented as she is. While her strengths are definitely in the area of design, she was also able to meet deadlines and apply herself, when required, to often tedious rote work, meeting tight deadlines and being responsible in a way that creative people often find taxing. Without exception, every piece of work she designed was exceptional, while still managing to meet restrictive briefs.

Sophie was mature and intelligent in her problem solving and attitude to difficult situations. Her manner was conciliatory and she was refreshingly amenable to even tedious tasks.

For a highly intelligent woman with more than her fair share of artistic talent, Sophie had virtually no ego. She was kind to other staff members, constructive and a delight to work with.

We were disappointed to lose someone of such talent, versatility and responsibility, but the position was not sufficiently challenging and Sophie unfortunately decided to leave at the end of 2008. She did so with the company’s very good wishes and no regrets.
